Review

I gave 3 stars to this little fella, but it's more like 2.5 stars.
This is a novella, a very small reading and that's why I didn't love it so much. Basically it's a story of two best friends that had fallen in love when they were young, when they go to a different college they don't see each other much and everything falls apart. Every chapter is an important moment in their lives, since they met until now.
It's a like a christmas miracle, when you think you are all alone the person who you've loved all your life appears. I couldn't really connect with the characters, feel what they were feeling.
I really wish I could give it more, maybe if this was bigger story.
“It’s Christmas, Snitch. It’s the time that miracles happen.”

I Want It That Way (2B Trilogy #1)
goodreads

Synopsis

Nadia Conrad has big dreams, and she's determined to make them come true—for her parents' sake as well as her own. But between maintaining her college scholarship and working at the local day care to support herself, she barely has time to think, let alone date. Then she moves into a new apartment and meets the taciturn yet irresistible guy in 1B….

Daniel Tyler has grown up too fast. Becoming a single dad at twenty turned his life upside down—and brought him heartache he can't risk again. Now, as he raises his four-year-old son while balancing a full-time construction management job and night classes, a social life is out of the question. The last thing he wants is for four noisy students to move into the apartment upstairs. But one night, Nadia's and Ty's paths cross, and soon they can't stay away from each other.

The timing is all wrong—but love happens when it happens. And you can't know what you truly need until you stand to lose it.

Review

This ebook was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
Nadia is a college student who decides to move in with three friends. On the move in day the boys leave Nadia and Lauren alone trying to get a couch to the second floor, it is clear that the thing does not run too well, to improve things is in this moment that she first meets with Ty.
Ty is the neighbor of Nadia, from the apartment 1B, is a single father of a 4 year old boy, Sam, something that is not easy for a person, trying to balance work during the day and study at night.
One night before going to bed, Nadia goes to the balcony which is direct to Ty's backyard, that's where the first time he really seems to notice her. That gets to be the spot for them, the only time in all day for them to talk to each other, otherwise they just have a little exchange of words "Good Morning" or "Good Afternoon".
Nadia has her day completely full, divided between the University, which she has to maintain the scholarship to be able to continue to study, and work in a day center for children, is it hard to have time for a relationship. Although she wants to focus on the most important things, she can't forget Ty, and when it reaches the end of the day all she wants is to drink her tea on the porch and talk to him.
Ty doesn't want to enter into a relationship, like Nadia he is divided between work, university and his child. The main reason is Sam, being so small he wouldn't understand if a woman walked into his life and his father's and from one moment to the other she is out of their lives.
With the attraction between Nadia and Ty they decide to be friends with benefits, this way they can leave some frustation behind and continued with their lives like they want.
I loved this book, and just didn't give it five stars because there were some things that made me a bit of confusion. I understand Ty's point of view, the child is young and hasn't grown up with his mother around, is hard not to have a mother figure, and it's hard if he gets attached to someone and then puff the maternal figure will no longer be there.
Nadia is a character who always tries to match all the expectations of her parents, although the only thing they want is for her to be happy, but she gets sad because of the scholarship. She is a strong character who shows that we shouldn't give up on our dreams and of what we want, we can take longer or go in another path, but what really matters is that we get the job donne.
Ty was one of the characters I liked the most, and why I loved the story, he is not the typical bad boy or playboy, Ty is sensitive, has Sam and his welfare as a priority, is kind, has his demons and tries to fight them, but sometimes you need a helping hand even in our struggles.
It is a book that doesn't play by the "rules" of contemporary novels nowadays, is something new that haven't read before.
I am eager to read the second book, As Long As You Love Me coming out at the end of the month.
Out of curiosity the titles of the books in this trilogy are names of songs from the Backstreet Boys, which leaves me with a smile on my face because when I was little I loved to hear them.
